The Mycorrhiza Collective was created
as a “grass roots”
organization dedicated to raising awareness about sustainable
ecological practices, remembering ancient indigenous ways
and to form a functional mass collective network throughout
Turtle Island.
We communicate these intentions through various workshops,
dance and multi-media festivals, including community
gatherings.
Mycorrhiza(e) is the largest living organism in the
forest, and acts as a vast underground web to help sustain
the forest. Mycorrhiza is a symbiotic association that
forms protective strands around the roots of trees,
forming a dense energetic network throughout the forest
soil.
As a conscious and intentional collective of artists
and visionaries we aim to be this sustainable underground
network.
Over the past few years the Mycorrhiza Collective
has embarked on 4 caravans. The first, in collaboration
with the Sierra Club of BC, we campaigned and lead a
caravan to raise awareness and support towards the preservation
and protection of the Great Bear Rainforest. (Earth's
last remaining in tact temperate rainforest)
The campaign proved to be an overall success and we
collectively saved over 500,000 hectares.
Following, we navigated 3 caravans south to Mexico
and focused on sharing the wisdom of the Mayan time
cycles, creating sustainable community and networking
the continental tribal dance family.
Currently our vision reflects the need to return to
Earth, Madre Tierra, and focus on building or co-creating
sustainable and sacred spaces through co-operative or
community land programs. Rebuild the garden, return
to Eden, or Shambhala.
Part of the original vision is to create a holistic
wellness retreat or hostel which is still part of our
future goals.
The Mycorrhiza Collective branches
and extends from the Kootenay mountains, Vancouver,
the Sunshine Coast, Vancouver Island down the Pacific
west coast thru Washington, Oregon, California, and
onward south throughout Mexico into places like Sayulita,
Guadalajara, Leon, San Luis Potosi, D.F, Tepoztlan,
Oaxaca, Palenque, San Cristobal de Las Casas and Tulum.
This network of strong, vibrant and activated kin is
here for everyone, anyone with an open heart who seeks
balance and harmony, who is dedicated to building sustainable,
conscious community in an artistic way.
